How to Download Your Kick VODs Before Kick Deletes Them

Kick keeps a VOD for 7 days, or 30 days on a Verified channel, and cannot recover a deleted one. Here is how to download your own VODs and what to do with them.

How to Download Your Kick VODs Before Kick Deletes Them

Kick announced on September 25, 2026 that streamers can download their own VODs. Open your Creator Dashboard, go to Studio, then VODs, and click the Download button on the stream you want. Kick keeps a VOD for 7 days on a regular channel and 30 days on a Verified channel, and it cannot recover a deleted one.

A VOD (video on demand) is Kick's saved replay of a past stream. This guide covers your own VODs. Once they are saved, you can stream them again as live.

The facts about Kick in this post are current as of October 27, 2026.

How to download a Kick VOD

Kick showed the steps in its announcement: Creator Dashboard, Studio, VODs, then the Download button on the VOD. Kick's help article on downloading still lists only third-party tools and a manual browser method, and Kick does not say which file format you get.

  1. Log in to Kick and open your Creator Dashboard.
  2. Click Studio, then VODs. Kick's pinning guide lists Creator Dashboard > Studio > VODs as a place to manage your VODs. The dashboard guide says Studio is where you "Edit your VODs".
  3. Find the stream you want. If it is not listed, wait. Kick's missing VOD guide says to check back in 15 to 30 minutes for a short stream and up to an hour for a long one.
  4. Click the Download button on that VOD. It sits next to the red delete button, so take care to click the right one.
  5. Open the saved file and check the start and the end to confirm the whole stream saved.

If your connection dropped during the stream, Kick may have split it into several VODs. Kick says to check your dashboard for other VODs from the same date. Download each part.

How long Kick keeps your VODs

ChannelHow long a VOD staysHow many VODs fit
Regular channel7 days16
Verified channelUp to 30 days30

Kick's VOD page names only these two kinds of channel. Its missing VOD guide says: "If you want to keep a VOD permanently, download it before the retention period ends." It adds: "Once a VOD is auto-deleted, we cannot recover it."

Partner and Verified channels can also pin up to 5 VODs to keep them on the channel. A VOD must still be inside its retention window to be pinned. A pin keeps the VOD on Kick, and a download gives you a file you control.

Our tip: make it a habit. Download the streams you care about within a week after you stream them.

If you do not see a download option

Kick's help center says third-party tools can download a VOD when you paste its link, and it also describes a manual method. We do not name or recommend any of these tools. They work from a VOD link, so use one only on your own streams, or on a stream whose owner gave you permission.

Two other things to check:

  • You are logged in to the account that owns the channel.
  • The VOD is still inside its 7 or 30 day window.

Download Kick clips

A clip is a short highlight, 10 to 180 seconds long. Per Kick's clips guide, you can clip a VOD while you watch it: click the Clip icon or press C, set the length, add a title, and click Publish. Then click Download to save the clip as an .mp4 file.

Clips suit short posts on social media. They do not replace the full VOD.

What to do with your saved VODs

The good news is that a saved VOD doesn't have to sit in a folder. You can put it back on air as a live stream with LiveReacting. It plays from our servers, so your computer can be off, and viewers still get a live chat while it plays.

  1. Upload the saved file to LiveReacting.
  2. Connect your Kick channel with its stream key and URL.
  3. Click Go Live, or schedule the start for a time when your viewers are online.

Our guide shows each screen in how to stream a pre-recorded video on Kick. Kick connects through a custom RTMP address, which needs a paid LiveReacting plan.

You can also send the same video to another platform at the same time. Or put your best streams in a playlist and run it all day as a 24/7 live stream channel.

Check the music before you re-air a stream. Kick's suspension rules list "playing copyrighted music or content without rights" as copyright infringement, and a VOD can carry that risk with it. Under Kick's DMCA strike system, an account is banned at the third strike.
